Chinese Anta Brand Set to Acquire 29% Stake in Puma

Anta Sports is preparing to take a major step onto the global stage by acquiring a 29.06% stake in Puma. The Chinese sportswear group has confirmed an agreement with Groupe Artémis, the Pinault family’s investment firm, in a deal valued at €1.5 billion, which would make Anta the largest shareholder of the German brand. The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

ANTA Sports owns a wide portfolio of brands, including Anta , FILA (in China), Descente (China), Kolon Sport (China), Arc’teryx, Salomon, Wilson, Peak Performance, Atomic and Amer Sports. Through these brands, ANTA covers everything from football and basketball to outdoor, winter sports and premium lifestyle markets.

Anta to Buy 29% of Puma

According to Anta CEO Ding Sizhong, the move fits the company’s strategy of global expansion, with Puma seen as a complementary brand with strong heritage and worldwide reach. Anta brings decades of experience in building and revitalising sports brands, particularly in China and emerging markets, while Puma offers deep roots in football and a strong presence across Europe, Latin America, Africa and India.

If completed, the deal could at least a bit reshape the balance of power in the global sportswear market.
