Adidas Milking Germany Before Nike Takes Over
- Adidas and Germany Partnership Ending: Adidas's 70-year partnership with the German national team (DFB) is ending in early 2027, with Nike taking over.
- Extensive Kit Releases: Adidas is releasing eight Germany kits in 2026, including the standard World Cup home and away kits, a 'farewell' third kit, and five retro remake kits.
- Maximizing Final Year: Adidas is seemingly trying to maximize profits in its final year by releasing numerous kits, allowing them to continue selling Germany products even after Nike takes over.
Adidas is going all out in its final months with the German national team. With the historic 70-year partnership coming to an end in early 2027 when Nike officially takes over, the Three Stripes are heavily cashing in on their DFB heritage.
Adidas Milking Germany Contract With Eight Kit Releases in Final Year
In addition to the standard 2026 World Cup home and away kits, Adidas is planning an extensive lineup of special releases. The brand will launch a unique 'farewell' third kit for the national team to mark the end of the long-standing era.
Germany 2026 Home & Away Kits
On top of these three modern jerseys, Adidas is also releasing at least five different retro remake kits throughout the year. This includes the recently leaked 2006 World Cup Teamgeist shirt, bringing the total number of official Germany shirts released in 2026 to a staggering eight.
Adidas can continue to sell Germany products even after the deal ends but not promote them
While fans of classic football kits will certainly appreciate the retro reissues, it is clear that Adidas is milking the final year of its contract to the absolute maximum before handing the reins over to Nike.
Indeed, the move enables Adidas to continue selling German products even after the Nike deal begins, since retailers can keep them in stock. However, it remains uncertain how much demand there will be for Adidas Germany products once the deal concludes. It is an interesting strategy not ever done at a large scale like this in football.
Germany 1990 World Cup Away Remake Kit
The Adidas Germany 1990-2026 away remake shirt was carried over from 1988, with the only difference being the collar and logo applications. The Adidas DFB 2026 away remake shirt is a one-to-one reproduction of the original kit, with only the tags being the difference (there existed different versions of the original with slightly different Trefoil branding).

Germany 2006 World Cup remake Kit
The Adidas Germany 2006 World Cup remake football shirt is a faithful, one-to-one recreation of the classic home kit worn by the host nation during the tournament. Based on the legendary Teamgeist template, it features a clean white base with subtle vertical pinstripes and the unmistakable curved side panels in black, red, and yellow. Staying completely true to the original era, the DFB crest is accompanied by just three stars, while the retro Adidas performance logo sits centrally on the chest.
