La Liga is currently celebrating its first-ever Retro Matchday, but FC Barcelona is not wearing a classic kit. However, there is good news for the future, as Barcelona kit expert @memorabilia1899 has revealed that the club will fully join the initiative next year with a dedicated Nike retro shirt for the 2026-2027 season.
Barcelona Wears Usual Kit in 25-26 Retro Matchday
For this weekend's matches, Barça is simply wearing their standard 2025-2026 home kit. It feels like a missed opportunity for both the club and their supplier. Nike could have easily allowed the team to wear the special-edition FC Barcelona 1998-99 remake kit, which was already launched back in 2019, as a perfect, ready-made option for the occasion.

The recently released Nike Total 90 remake kit is said to be suboptimal in terms of breathability, so it makes sense that this is not worn.
