FC Barcelona Fully Join La Liga Retro Matchday Next Season, Nike to Release Special Retro Kit
- FC Barcelona to participate in La Liga Retro Matchday: FC Barcelona will fully participate in La Liga's Retro Matchday next season.
- Nike to release special retro kit: Nike will release a dedicated retro shirt for FC Barcelona for the 2026-2027 season.
- Barcelona Forgoes Retro Kit This Year: FC Barcelona is wearing their standard 2025-2026 home kit for this weekend's Retro Matchday, missing an opportunity to use the 1998-99 remake kit.
La Liga is currently celebrating its first-ever Retro Matchday, but FC Barcelona is not wearing a classic kit. However, there is good news for the future, as Barcelona kit expert @memorabilia1899 has revealed that the club will fully join the initiative next year with a dedicated Nike retro shirt for the 2026-2027 season.
Barcelona Wears Usual Kit in 25-26 Retro Matchday
For this weekend's matches, Barça is simply wearing their standard 2025-2026 home kit. It feels like a missed opportunity for both the club and their supplier. Nike could have easily allowed the team to wear the special-edition FC Barcelona 1998-99 remake kit, which was already launched back in 2019, as a perfect, ready-made option for the occasion.
The 2019 re-edition would have been perfectly suited
The recently released Nike Total 90 remake kit is said to be suboptimal in terms of breathability, so it makes sense that this is not worn.
With plenty of time to prepare for next year's event, fans can look forward to Nike delivering a brand-new vintage-inspired design for the team to wear on the pitch.

Exclusive: Manchester United 26-27 Third Kit Pays Homage to Salford Lads Club
The Manchester United 2026-2027 third kit is is a homage to the local Salford area, specifically drawing inspiration from the iconic Salford Lads Club.
The kit is inspired by the two Lancashire roses prominently featured on the club's entrance signage, a visual made famous by its inclusion in The Smiths' 1986 album, The Queen is Dead. It incorporates hand-drawn roses and features a unique back neck sign-off, celebrating both the local fan base and the youth community deeply associated with the historic Salford landmark.
