Borussia Dortmund is making a significant change to its uniform strategy for the upcoming 2026-2027 season by actively reducing the size of its kit collection. According to a report from reliable club source Ruhr Nachrichten, the German giants and their technical sponsor Puma will not be releasing a dedicated Cup kit or a Special Edition jersey for the next campaign.
Borussia Dortmund to Have No Cup and Special Edition Kits for 26-27 Season
Dortmund had five kits in the 2025-26 season - in 2026-27, they will "only" have three.
The decision to eliminate the dedicated Cup kit appears to be heavily influenced by a shift in the club's commercial partnerships. Historically, Dortmund utilized separate front-of-shirt sponsors for domestic league matches and cup or European fixtures, essentially necessitating different jersey designs to satisfy contractual obligations. With a unified sponsor approach now reportedly in place across all competitions, the functional need for a separate Cup uniform has dissolved. Furthermore, the club has internally decided to scrap the annual Special Edition release to intentionally keep the overall shirt collection smaller and avoid oversaturating their retail lineup.
The BVB 26-27 26-27 away kit has been described as a much simpler, predominantly black design compared to the more experimental iterations of recent years.
By focusing solely on a streamlined set of core kits, Dortmund is returning to a much more traditional approach for its seasonal wardrobe.

Scottish League One side Airdrieonians FC have introduced their new looks for the upcoming 2026-27 season, made by Puma.
Both of the new designs share one identical idea: a huge red V-shaped band across the chest - which is also the club's signature graphic. Similar feature also appear on the sleeves, creating a matching full looks. While the home kit use traditional white base, the away kit is in all black.
