Special Nike x PaisaBoys Mexico-Inspired Kit
- Campaign Feature: Nike's 'Rip the Script' advertising campaign for the upcoming World Cup prominently featured Mexican striker Raúl Jiménez wearing a unique, custom-designed Paisaboys football shirt.
- Kit Design and Brand Inspiration: The special dark green, Mexico-inspired kit, a collaboration with Mexican-American streetwear brand PaisaBoys, features tonal graphics and the PaisaBoys logo instead of an official national team crest due to Adidas's existing contract with the Mexican national team.
- Symbolism and Release Status: This kit cleverly serves as a symbolic representation of Mexico without violating licensing agreements, but its public release remains unconfirmed at this time.
Yesterday, Nike launched their 'Rip the Script' advertising campaign ahead of the upcoming World Cup. Within the promotional material, eagle-eyed fans spotted Mexican striker Raúl Jiménez wearing a unique, custom-designed Paisaboys football shirt alongside other international stars.
Paisaboys is a streetwear brand based in Los Angeles that was founded by Mexican Americans. The brand draws inspiration from the Mexican immigrant and Mexican American communities, and aims to transform the word “paisa” into a symbol of cultural pride.
Special Nike x PaisaBoys Mexico-Inspired Kit
This is the special Nike x PaisaBoys Mexico-inspired football shirt.
The special Nike x PaisaBoys Mexico-inspired football kit features a traditional dark green base colorway. The front of the jersey is detailed with a striking tonal graphic pattern running vertically down the center and across the sleeves, complemented by a clean white Swoosh on the right chest and a centered white number nine.
Instead of an official national team crest, the left chest displays the logo of the streetwear brand PaisaBoys. This creative substitution was necessary because the Mexican national team is currently under contract with Nike's primary competitor, Adidas, preventing Nike from using any official federation branding in their commercial.
Therefore, the shirt serves as a clever symbolic representation of the country without violating any licensing agreements.
The back of the shirt boasts an impressive, custom gothic-style typography for the name "Raúl" and his iconic number 9. This bespoke detailing serves as a dedicated tribute to the legendary Mexican forward, who has been a loyal Nike-sponsored athlete since around 2013.
At this time, it remains unconfirmed whether this unique Nike x PaisaBoys collaboration will be officially released to the public or if it was produced exclusively as a promotional prop for the 'Rip the Script' campaign.
