The new Adidas Manchester United 27-28 third shirt will be predominantly black, paired with white accents and vibrant red, officially named 'Pure Ruby'.
Instead of the regular crest, Manchester United uses the devil crest for the 2027-2028 third kit.
Throughout the club's modern era, black change shirts have been a recurring fan favorite. Previous kit manufacturers, including Nike, Umbro, and Adidas, have successfully paired black bases with a wide variety of bold secondary colors, including yellow, blue, red, orange, and white.
Notably, this color combination is a first for the club. While Manchester United have regularly worn black change strips, this specific ruby-red tone has never been paired with a black base before. In previous modern seasons, Adidas opted for vibrant solar orange accents instead, as seen on the 2015-16 and 2019-20 third kits.
The most recent instance of Manchester United donning a black alternative strip was the 2025-2026 third kit, which featured yellow and blue detailing.
