Tigres to Leave Adidas for Reebok in 2027 After More Than 20 Years?
- Tigres to End Adidas Deal: Mexican club Tigres UANL is reportedly ending its more than two-decade-long kit partnership with Adidas in 2027 after renewal negotiations failed.
- Reebok Set to Be New Kit Sponsor: Reports indicate that Reebok is the leading candidate to become Tigres' new kit manufacturer, with an agreement reportedly well advanced to start in the 2027-2028 season.
- End of a 21-Year Successful Era: The partnership between Tigres and Adidas, which began in 2006, spanned 21 years and coincided with the club's "golden era," including numerous domestic and continental titles.
Mexican giants Tigres UANL are reportedly set to end one of the longest and most iconic kit partnerships in North American football. After more than two decades with Adidas, reports in Mexico indicate that the club will not extend their agreement beyond 2027, with Reebok emerging as the clear frontrunner to take over starting in the 27-28 season.
Tigres to End Adidas Kit Deal
According to Mexican journalists Edu Torres of RG La Deportiva and JC Díaz Murrieta (@jcdiazmurrieta), recent negotiations between Tigres and Adidas to renew their deal failed to reach a successful conclusion. With the German brand now poised to step aside once the current contract expires in 2027, Tigres have actively explored alternatives, and multiple outlets report that an agreement with Reebok is already well advanced.
End of a 21-Year Partnership
The partnership between Tigres and Adidas began back in 2006, spanning over two decades of unmatched domestic and continental success. Under the Three Stripes, the club enjoyed the golden era of their history, lifting numerous Liga MX trophies and the Concacaf Champions Cup.
The relationship was last renewed in 2023 through 2027, and Tigres' 26-27 kits were launched specifically to celebrate the 20-year milestone between club and manufacturer.
Despite Adidas reportedly having preliminary kit proposals ready for future campaigns, Tigres now seem ready to turn the page as part of a wider commercial overhaul that has also seen changes in their primary sponsors and broadcast partners in recent years.
Reebok Expanding Footprint in Liga MX
For Reebok, securing Tigres would represent a monumental statement. Adding a club with Tigres' commercial muscle and dedicated fan base would instantly give Reebok a flagship property in Latin America.
Supporters have met the news with mixed reactions, with some nostalgic for the familiar Adidas stripes while others look forward to what Reebok could deliver, especially given the popularity of retro-inspired 1990s and 2000s football aesthetics.
