One of the rarest modern match balls in football history has surfaced in collector circles. Match ball collector Jakob Semajer-Garic recently showcased an unused prototype version of the famous Adidas 2021-22 UEFA Champions League Final "Peace" ball, giving a close-up look at one of the brand's most exclusive designs.

The Adidas 2021-2022 UEFA Champions League final ball was created under extraordinary circumstances ahead of the 2022 final between Liverpool and Real Madrid at the Stade de France in Paris.

This is the prototype of the 2021-22 Champions League final ball.

Following the outbreak of the war in Ukraine and the subsequent relocation of the final from Saint Petersburg, Adidas scrapped the original multi-colored Saint Petersburg ball. In its place, the three-stripe brand delivered a stark, minimalist white and silver design prominently stamped with the inscription МИР | PEACE across the star panels to convey a message of unity and truce.

The Adidas 2022 Champions League final ball was completely excluded from retail sale. Fans and collectors could not buy the official match ball through regular stores or online drops. Instead, Adidas auctioned the official match-used ball on World Refugee Day in June 2022, raising £24,000 for the UNHCR.
