Top 5 Nike Ronaldinho Boots

Brazil legend Ronaldinho announced that he will retire from professional football. One of the most skillful footballers of all time and for a few years at FC Barcelona, he seemed unstoppable, prompting Nike to create his own signature boot line, a treatment hardly another player has received since.

We take a look back at some of the most memorable Ronaldinho boots as the Brazil legend.

5 | Nike Ronaldinho Dois - True Yellow / Navy / Gold (2009)

Released in 2009 during Ronaldinho's spell at AC Milan, the Nike Ronaldinho Dois (named dois (two in Portuguese) as it's the second signature Ronaldinho Boot) in the True Yellow / Navy / Gold colorway is an homage to Ronaldinho's home country Brazil and its national team's yellow jerseys.

The Nike Tiempo Ronaldinho 10R Dois ditched the large tongue of its predecessors, while also tweaking other parts of the cleat. An eye-catching feature of the Nike Tiempo Ronaldinho Dois Cleat is the striking stitching pattern in the forefoot area, designed to prevent the soft k-leather from expanding too much.

4 | Nike Air Legend R10 - Gold / White (2006)

Launched ahead of the knockout stage of the 2006 World Cup in Germany, the Nike Air Legend R10 Ronaldinho Boots were based on the contemporary Nike Air Legend Cleats, with only a few customizations for Ronaldinho, who had just won the Champions League with Barcelona.

First, there's Ronaldinho's initial R on the iconic tongue instead of the regular version's Swoosh, and second, the heel of the gold Nike Air Legend R10 Football Boots showed the Brazil national team's 5 stars.

3 | Nike Ronaldinho Dois - White / Red / Black (2009)

Celebrating Ronaldinho's move to AC Milan, the white / red Nike Ronaldinho Dois Cleats were released in early 2009.

Technically the same as the previously released Nike Ronaldinho Dois Boots, the AC Milan Ronaldinho Boots featured a large red swoosh on the outside, with other details colored in black, honoring the Rossoneri's colors.

2 | Nike Tiempo Ronaldinho 10R - Team Red / White / Gold (2007)

The Nike Tiempo Ronaldinho 10R Boots were the first-ever completely unique Ronaldinho Cleats, after the previous pairs were largely based on the regular Nike Air Legend Boots.

Designed after Ronaldinho's exact specifications, the Nike Tiempo Ronaldinho 10R boast a kangaroo leather upper and an enlarged tongue for an increased touch area.

Ronaldinho's signature and the 10R logo feature on the lateral side and in the front area of the Red / White / Gold Nike Tiempo Ronaldinho Cleats, respectively. Another recurring theme of the signature Ronaldinho Boots, the three-color stitching to represent strength, inspiration and joy, are also present in the heel area of the red Nike Tiempo Ronaldinho Cleat.

1 | Nike Air Legend R10 - White / Gold (2005)

Having worn Nike Mercurial and Nike Air Zoom Boots earlier in his career, Ronaldinho later switched to the Nike Air Legend range, predecessor of the Tiempo and probably best fitting for his skillful and elegant way of playing.

It was not before 2005 however, that Ronaldinho received his first signature Nike Air Legend Cleats. Based on the regular model, the Nike Air Legend Ronaldinho Cleats are white with a gold Swoosh and further details of that color on the sole, the tongue and the sockliner.

Albeit not the most special boots in this selection, the White / Gold Nike Air Legend R10 Cleats are our top pick, down to the fact that they were worn during Ronaldinho's undoubtly best time at Barcelona, including a memorable hat-trick 3-0 win at the Santiago Bernabeu and the Champions League win over Arsenal in May 2006.
