Werder Bremen main sponsor Wiesenhof has used an option to extend the current contract for another year until 2017. Wiesenhof has been Werder Bremen's shirt sponsor since taking over form Targobank in 2012.

Wiesenhof recently helped Werder Bremen to assume the costs of signing Claudio Pizarro on a free transfer and will look to further strengthen the partnership with the Bundesliga club over the next two years.
Werder Bremen fans were adversed to the renewal with the poultry producer due to claims of cruelty to animals by animal rights activists. When Wiesenhof first became club sponsor in 2012, many supporters threatened to boycott the Wiesenhof-sponsored Werder Bremen jerseys.
