Santos Sign Three-Year Kappa Kit Deal

Italian sportswear manufacturer Kappa becomes the new kit supplier of Brazilian club Santos FC, replacing previous shirt supplier Nike. The new Kappa Santos Kit Deal was officially signed on October 14, according to media reports in Brazil who are also reporting that Santos FC president Modesto Roma Júnior already confirmed the deal.

Nike had been Santos' kit supplier since 2012 when they replaced the Double Diamond brand Umbro.

Kappa will produce the new Santos FC Kits.

Globo Esporte reports that the new Santos FC Kappa Kit Deal is valid from today, even though no contract details were officially announced yet. Additionally, Santos signed a new deal for the distribution of the Kappa Kits with SPR. Therefore, Santos FC can distribute the Kappa Kits itself but also has to assume the production costs of the shirts.

As Santos is now responsible for the production and the distribution of the kits, the Brazilian club does not receive a fixed sum per year but makes profit with the sale of each shirt. Santos FC previously got approximately R$ 7 million / year (1.8 million US Dollar) from Nike.

Globo also claims that Santos' kits will feature a mark on the front to honor club legend Pele in order to boost the sales of the first-ever Santos FC Kappa Shirts which would lead to higher profits.
