FC Barcelona and Qatar Airways Announce Shirt Sponsorship Renewal
As expected, FC Barcelona and Qatar Airways today confirmed they are extended their sponsorship agreement for another season, under the same conditions as before.
Qatar Airways to Sponsor Barcelona Shirts in 2016-17 Season
The Qatar Airways logo will re-appear on Barcelona's jerseys in the 16-17 season.
Based on the official announcement, the additional year of Qatar Airways sponsoring will bring around €35 million into the club. It is expected that - once the initial batch of Barcelona 16-17 home and away shirts is sold out - they will become available to buy featuring Qatar Airways' logo shortly after.
Following the initial reports, the new deal with Qatar Airways could be valid for the match shirts only, while Amazon is said to be in talks with the talks about a possible four-year jersey sponsorship deal from 2017-18.
FC Barcelona’s vice-president of Marketing and Communication, Manel Arroyo said of the renewal: “Qatar Airways has helped us to make Barça bigger in recent years. The success that has accompanied the Club has partly been their work. It is a pleasure to be able to work together for another season and we hope to continue along the same lines of mutual growth”.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, Akbar Al Baker stated the following: “Three years ago was the first time we entered into such a landmark sports partnership. We are proud and greatly honoured to continue that relationship. We hope to have a great season together”.
