First 2017-18 Kits - Here Are The Biggest Football Releases Of April 2017
The dark days are over and with it the time it was not easy to play football as often we would like to. We take a look at the biggest releases of April 2017.
Whereas the first three months of the year brought us a ton of launches such as the Nike Hypervenom Phantom III and various Adidas and Nike collections, April 2017 will be much quieter in terms of releases with only few new boots and kits coming out.
Nike Mercurial Superfly CR7 Chapter 4
Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to wear his new Nike Mercurial Superfly signature boots in the Champions League quarter final against Bayern München.
After Nike launched the new Nike Motion Blur and the Nike Revolution Pack last month, the Swoosh will only bring out one big football collection this month, the new Nike Mercurial Superfly Cristiano Ronaldo Chapter 4 pack. Set to hit stores on April 13 2017, it is very likely that Cristiano Ronaldo will already debut the Cool Grey and Metallic Hematite boots in the first leg of the Champions League quarter final against Bayern Munich on April 12.
Adidas EQT Pack
In mid-April 2017, the Three Stripes will launch an exclusive collection for small-sided football, dubbed the EQT pack. The collection will bring the look of the iconic Equipment collection which debuted in the 1990s to the modern game.
New Balance Liverpool 17-18 Home Kit
Liverpool will already unveil a classy new 125th anniversary crest and the new home shirt in April. The new Liverpool 2017-18 kit will feature a darker shade of red and the special anniversary logo.
However, these are only the three biggest releases of the month. Puma will also launch several new editions for their boot silos, and both Adidas and Nike could also bring out new special editions such as the Adidas Ace PureControl Ultra Boost Kith Edition. It is also possible that other clubs will also unveil next season's kits already.

J.League x Pokémon: 60 Clubs, 60 Pokémon
The J.League has announced one of its most creative collaboration yet, teaming up with Pokémon for the 'Pokémon J.League Fest 'EVOLUTION!'' campaign ahead of the 2026-27 season.
All 60 clubs across J1, J2 and J3 have been paired with their own Pokémon, with the campaign following each Pokémon's evolution throughout the season across official artwork, graphics and promotional content.
The collaboration also celebrates 30 years of Pokémon (1996-2026) while building excitement for the new J.League campaign, which kicks off on 7 August.
Fans attending matches will receive one of one million exclusive EVO BAGs, each featuring Pikachu alongside the home club's partner Pokémon.
This isn't the first crossover between the two either. Back in 2014, the J.League and Pokémon launched the Family Join Days campaign, where young supporters received exclusive Pikachu trading cards at stadiums.
If your favorite club could be paired with any Pokémon, which one would you choose? Let us know in the comments below.
Hoffenheim Call Out Twitter Accounts Promoting Fake Kits
German club TSG Hoffenheim has taken a humorous approach to address a growing trend on social media involving the promotion of counterfeit football shirts. The club's official account posted a sarcastic message mimicking the exact language used by accounts that advertise fake kits. The post claimed to have found a really cool site for authentic shirts of top quality and insisted the endorsement was entirely voluntary, before directing users to a link in the replies.
Instead of linking to a counterfeit retailer, Hoffenheim's reply simply provided the URL to their official club shop. The joke directly targets a widespread practice on social media where various football-focused accounts promote unauthorized replica stores. In exchange for posting these scripted advertisements, the account owners typically receive a small number of free fake kits, valued at around 35 Euros, rather than monetary compensation.
The club's creative trolling was quickly praised by other users on the platform, who criticized the accounts willingly participating in the fake shirt promotions for such a low reward. Hoffenheim's post serves as a clever marketing tactic for their own 2026-27 kits while simultaneously calling out the deceptive advertising of counterfeit merchandise.

Norway Debut 2026 World Cup Original Home Kit Combo
The Norway Nike 2026 World Cup home kit features a red shirt, white shorts, and blue socks, matching the colors of the national flag. However, Norway had never used it prior to the Round of 16 match. In the two previous Group Stage matches against Iraq and France, Norway only wore an all-red variation. Huge thanks to @jerseystory_vn for the photo collage.
The recent match against Brazil marked the very first time Norway used their original kit combo at the 2026 World Cup.
It is likely that Norway will wear also this original home kit in the Quarter-final against England, as they will have the priority to choose their kit colors first.
Chalk White / Racer Blue Nike Tiempo Ligera Boots Released
Nike has launched a brand-new colorway for the Tiempo Ligera football boots. The new edition introduces a clean and classic look, officially dubbed Chalk White / Racer Blue.
The Nike Tiempo Ligera Chalk White boots feature a buttery-soft TechLeather upper, providing a premium touch and comfortable fit. The design is kept simple, with the crisp Chalk White base complemented by subtle Racer Blue accents, creating an elegant aesthetic for players who prefer a traditional style.
The Nike Tiempo Ligera Pro Chalk White boots are available to buy now via Nike and select retailers like Pro:Direct Soccer. They retail at around 120 GBP to 135 GBP depending on the specific model variation.
Levski Sofia 26-27 Away Kit Released
Bulgarian First League side PFC Levski Sofia have officially unveiled their away kit for the 2026-27 season.
Following the initial launch of the home kit, the Adidas Levski Sofia 2026-27 away kit was introduced on July 6. It introduces a pinstripes design in pale gold and navy.
England Use One Shorts For Both 2026 World Cup Kits
Instead of being customized with separate variants like Brazil, France, or Norway, the England team used the dark away shorts, which are the main shorts of their away kit, as an alternate version for their home kit, while the original home kit features white shorts. Thanks to @jerseystory_vn for the spotting.
This was an intentional move by Nike. Since both of England 2026 World Cup kits share the exact same design and color accents, customizing a dedicated pair of dark shorts just for the home kit was deemed unnecessary.
