Celta Vigo to Sign New Balance Kit Deal

New Balance is the favorite to become Celta's kit supplier from the 2017-18 season, according to La Voz de Galicia. Adidas has been Celta Vigo's kit supplier since the 2012-13 season, while the club's kits were recently also made by Umbro and Li Ning.

Celta Looking For More Lucrative Deal Than Current Adidas Sponsor Contract

Celta Vigo's kits have been made by several different brands over the last few years.

Celta signed their Adidas deal back in 2012, when the club just gained promoted from the second division. The Galicien club reached the Spanish Copa del Rey semi-final the past two times, while they reached the Europa Leaue semi-final for the first time this year. Therefore, the club wants to sign a more lucrative contract as current contract conditions are, in the words of the president, not "exceptionally good". Their current deal with Adidas is reported to include only material but no extra money.

Historically, the club was in favor of signing agreements with manufacturers that had some connection with Galicia, as in his time Umbro, and precisely New Balance has one of its Spanish bases in Redondela.
