Sevilla Announce Playtika Shirt Sponsorship Deal
Social gaming giant Playtika has been announced as the new main sponsor of Sevilla for this season, the Spanish-league soccer club announced Saturday. Under the agreement, the logos of Playtika's most popular games will appear on the jerseys of Sevilla's first-team players.
Sevilla lost main sponsor Puerto Rico throughout the season in the 2016-17 campaign. Puerto Rico blamed the country's economic woes for this move, which was taken by the new government after the elections on November 8.
Sevilla Debut PlayWSOP Shirt Sponsor
Sevilla's jersey is expected to feature various different sponsor logos throughout the 2017-2018 season.
Playtika was purchased about a year ago by the Chinese game developer Giant Interactive for $4.4 billion. The company employs around 1,600 employees in 15 offices around the world. The company's headquarters are in Israel, and it has offices in the US, Canada, Australia, Argentina, Japan, Romania, Ukraine and Belarus.
Under the sponsorship agreement, which is valued at several million dollars, Playtika will be Sevilla's main sponsor. Logos of Playtika’s most popular games will appear on the player' shirts, with the first game to be featured on Sevilla's kit PlayWSOP, a free poker online game. The contract signed by Playtika and Sevilla is an annual contract with an option to extend it further.
“The sponsorship agreement with Sevilla, which shares similar values with Playtika, will enable us to reach new and diverse audiences,” says Arik Sandler, Playtika’s CFO. “This unique cooperation will strengthen the company’s brands, which are already enjoyed by tens of millions of players around the world”.
