Amazon to Bid for Premier League Steaming Rights
Internet giant Amazon is reportedly set to join BT and Sky Sports when bidding starts the UK Premier League in February.
Back in 2015, the two domestic broadcasters bid for packages combining GBP 5.1 billion across the three seasons, but prices could go up even more should Amazon enter the fray.
According to media analyst Richard Broughton of Ampere Analysis, Amazon is "very likely" to bid for one of the smaller packages. In total, there are seven different ones rangining from 20 to 32 matches each.
Should Amazon snap up part of the rights in the end, it would most likely mean that the games would stream through its Prime service in the UK.
