While the current-gen Adidas X 17+ Purespeed football cleat feature a lace cover to hide the traditional laces, the Adidas X 18 football boot comes without any laces at all. The Adidas X 18+ Purespeed features a ultra-lightweight Speedmesh upper in the front area and a ultra-thin synthetic material in the rear area for lightweight and lockdown.

The collar of the Adidas X 17 boot is gone. The Adidas X 18 soccer shoe features a Speedframe sole plate with a molded heel counter. The Adidas X 18+ soccer cleats feature a mixture of arrowhead forefoot studs and round heel studs for perfect acceleration.

The next-generation Adidas X 18+ soccer shoes are set for a launch in late May 2018.

Adidas will also release a more traditional laces version of the cleats that has less in common with the laceless edition, the Adidas X 18.1.
