Luis Suárez Trains in Puma Boots, Set to Leave Adidas

Update: It looks like there's even more to the recent rumors linking Barcelona striker Luis Suárez with a switch to Puma. Today, we spoted a pair of blacked-out Puma Future boots in training.

Update: Luis Suárez returned to training at FC Barcelona today and didn't rock a normal adidas colorway but unbranded blackout football boots, as anticipated by us. Check out the picture down below.

Uruguayan FC Barcelona striker Luis Suárez is set to leave Adidas after more than a decade to join Puma, according to Spanish media reports. Luis Suarez has been wearing Adidas soccer cleats since his time in Ajax.

In fact, Luis Suarez had been sponsored by Adidas for 11 season. Ahead of the 2018-19 season, he will change brands for the first time since 11 years. Before he joined Adidas in 2008, Luis Suarez wore Nike soccer boots.

"In the Spanish Supercopa against Sevilla, if Luis Suarez will play, he could still wear Adidas boots, but what seems to be confirmed is that the league season will start with Puma," reported the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo.

No financial details of Suárez's contract with Puma are known yet. Mundo Deportivo said that "it would be one of the highest sponsorships in the market in this regard".

The Uruguayan national team's top scorer still has not joined Barcelona's pre-season training. He is expected to begin the pre-season training at Barcelona on Monday.

Puma Kits Keep Ripping at the 2026 World Cup

Puma is facing significant criticism at the 2026 World Cup as multiple national team jerseys have easily ripped during matches.

Incidents involving players from Czechia, Morocco, Egypt, and Paraguay have highlighted an ongoing durability issue with the brand's latest kits - every torn shirt in the tournament so far belongs to a Puma-sponsored team.

The Puma 2026 World Cup kits incorporate the latest version of PUMA's ULTRAWEAVE “Thermoadapt” technology, which obviously is not tear-resistant enough.

The recurring wardrobe malfunctions have resulted in terrible PR for the German sportswear manufacturer and even prompted the viral resurgence of Xherdan Shaqiri's infamous quote from Euro 2016, where he joked that he hopes Puma does not produce condoms.
