Borussia Dortmund Swaps Player & Team Name Positioning

Confirming previous reports, Borussia Dortmund has changed the positioning of the names of the player's and team's name on their kits.

Borussia Dortmund Puts Team Name On The Top And Player Names On The Bottom

Previously, Borussia Dortmund had its team name 'Dortmund' written below and the player's name above the number. Now the club has, similar to various other Bundesliga clubs, swapped the positioning - the team name on the top and the player name on the bottom.

The reason for Dortmund and other teams to have the team's name on the top is that the 'team is more important than the player' - the players are changing, the club keeps the same. Around 13 Bundesliga teams have the player names below the numbers, while the rest have them on the top.

In the Champions League, the Premier League, La Liga and many other competitions, teams are only allowed to print the player name on the top. This is better for viewers in order to read the player's name when watching the game.

All Borussia Dortmund's 2019-2020 kits have the new positioning of the team's and player's name.
