Uli Hoeneß To Retire As Bayern Munich President In November 2019

The Uli Hoeneß era of the German soccer record champion Bayern Munich is apparently coming to an end after 40 years in club leadership.

According to the Bild, the president will not run for re-election in November, and Hoeneß also wants to resign from his position as head of the supervisory board. The 67-year-old had been confirmed for this position only last December until 2022.

According to Bild, Hoeneß has already considered a candidate to succeed him - former Adidas boss Herbert Hainer. The former Bavarian and national team goalkeeper Oliver Kahn is to join FC Bayern as the future chairman of the board.

Adidas has been sponsoring Bayern Munich since the 1960s, the longest supplier partnership in football worldwide . In 2015, FC Bayern Munich extended the contract with its supplier Adidas prematurely by ten years until 2030. Adidas, like the other Bayern sponsors Audi and Allianz, holds an 8.33 percent stake in Bayern-AG.

FC Bayern has not yet confirmed his appointment.
