Fail? AS Roma & FC Torino 'Share' Kit Font

If you watched some of the first Serie A matches of the 2019-20 season, you might have noticed that AS Roma and FC Torino are using a very similar typeface despite the league having no streamlined font...

AS Roma & FC Torino 19-20 Jersey Font Are Based On Same Basic Design

The Nike AS Roma 2019-20 kit font boasts a crazy design that is inspired by Roman iconography and the 'lightning' kit. However, even though the kits are not produced by the same brand, FC Torino's 2019-20 jersey font is almost the same, except the typeface not featuring the 'zaps' of the Roma font.

When directly comparing both fonts and all letters and numbers, we can see that there are also other small differences between both fonts. In fact, both typefaces are based on the same basic font, while AS Roma customzied the typeface for their kit.

“Roman mythology and its influence on Roman identity played a huge part in the concept. This year, Jupiter was our focus, and the lightning bolt was an obvious and powerful symbol to use,” explains Pete Hoppins, Nike Football Apparel Senior Design Director.
