Name, Kits, Logo and More: Here's How Fake Liverpool Looks Like in PES 2020

Having extensively covered the Juventus / Piemonte Calcio situation over at FIFA 20, let's have a look at how PES is dealing with fake teams.

We've chosen to look at current Champions League holders Liverpool for this. Liverpool signed an exclusive deal with EA Sports / FIFA this year after a multi-year partnership with Konami.

After appearing in full licensed glory last year, Liverpool are now called "Liverpool R" in the eFootball PES 2020 Demo. This is a new name - traditionally, and also in 2015, the last time Liverpool were not licensed in the game, they were called "Merseyside Red". The logo has not been changed however.

As for kits, the Liverpool R home kit is dark red with a slightly darker v-collar and white numbers. It's not that far off the real deal. The away, meanwhile, is white with black trim and black socks. A grey goalkeeper kit completes the set, which is fairly close to the real one at least in terms of colors.

Fortunately for fans of PES, all scanned player faces accrued over the duration of the Liverpool deal are likely to remain in the game. Thanks to the FIFPro license, the game is able to have fully licensed player names and likenesses in the Premier League and La Liga, both of which are exclusive to FIFA. In case you wondered, this does not apply to the Bundesliga as the German footballers' federation has not joined FIFAPro.

Konami's excellent recreation of Anfield, however, will not be playable this year. As for kits, team names and logos, there's a wide selection of free and paid PES option files every year to sort that out on Playstation and PC.
