AZ Alkmaar Confirm Under Armour Exit - Nike Switch Next?

AZ Alkmaar have just confirmed that Under Armour will leave the club after the current season, matching reports from late last year that claimed the club would switch to Nike.

AZ were sitting in second place, level on points with Ajax, before the 2019-20 Eredivisie season was declared null and void by the Dutch Football Association.

“After five beautiful seasons, a very pleasant cooperation comes to an end,” says Michael Koster, AZ's Director of Commercial Affairs. “When we started working with Under Armor in 2015, they were already known as a renowned brand in the field of sports equipment. At AZ we have only become more enthusiastic afterwards, because UA has proven itself as an exceptionally professional partner that stands for top quality. We are happy to have reaped the benefits of this for years, because this partnership gave our appearance an obvious boost.”

Original article - November 2019:

Nike is set to become the jersey maker of Dutch Eredivie side AZ, according to Dutch journalist @BrianWijker.

AZ Alkmaar's current deal with Under Armour runs until the end of the 20-21 season, i.e. next. The deal with Under Armour was signed by AZ in 2015.

Nike To Make AZ Alkmaar Kits From 2020-21 Season

No financial details of the Nike AZ Alkmaar deal have surfaced yet - the official confirmation will follow at a later stage accroding to the journalist.

We expect that AZ Alkmaar's Nike 2020-2021 kits will be based on Nike teamwear, similar to the kits of Utrecht.
