Our 10 Worst Kits Of The Decade
Earlier this week, we shared our Top 10 football kits of the decade, from 2010 until 2019. Now we have also made a selection of the opposite - the 10 worst soccer jerseys released in the last 10 years.
"Special Entry" - CD Palencia 2016-17 "Anatomy" Home Kit
Spanish lower-division club Palencia released a football kit that boasts a flesh and muscle design. But not in an abstract version but just as it would look if the players would be skinned. As they are just a fourth-division club, it is a special entry to show off that it can be always worse than belows kits.
10 - Derby County 2013-14 Home Kit
One of the lamest kits released in the past years. And that is made by Kappa, who today stand out with possibly the best) kits of any brand.
9 - Manchester City 2019-20 Third
The Man City 19-20 third shirt split people's opinion immediately after being leaked. It did not get better when worn on the pitch by the Citizens.
8 - Germany 2018 World Cup Home Kit
It might not look bad at first glance - but with Germany's "disastrous" 2018 World Cup campaign people were extremely happy when it was replaced some weeks ago with the EURO 2020 kit. It was likely one of the worst-selling Germany jersey since a few years - it is available for ridiculous prices, starting from around 15 Euro.
7 - Liverpool 2012-13 Third Kit
It is easy to see why Liverpool's 2012-3013 third jersey is included in our selection. Warrior's first-ever season for the club brought them a third kit that It both looks horrendous on products pictures and on-pitch.
6 - England 2016 Home Kit
Based on the now infamous Euro 2016 Vapor Aeroswift jersey, the England Euro 2016 kit looks both lame and bad.
4 - 1860 Munich 150-Years Anniversary Kit
Created to 'celebrate' the club's 150th anniversary, the 1860 Munich 150-Years Anniversary Kit by German brand Erima is filled with glorious scenes from the club's past. But it's a total mess, complete with 70s-style yellow lining. Just no.
4 - Chelsea 2017-18 Home Kit
The second entry for the Nike Vapor design... Nike's first-ever kit for the club was the most boring kit we have ever seen. According to Nike, "the Chelsea home shirt carries a minimalist aesthetic that is truly modern yet also rooted deeply in the club’s heritage." Vapor Match kit in 'perfection'.
3 - HSV 2019-20 Away Kit
The Hamburg 2019-2020 away kit is very bold, and it looks horrendous. Nein, Adidas, that is not a good kit.
2 - Barcelona 2012-13 Home & Away Kits
Certainly the worst-ever set of football kits Nike ever released for any club.
1 - Real Madrid 2015-16 Away
Combining a grey melange effect with electricity application, the Adidas Real Madrid 2015-16 away shirt combines two of the things we most hate about 2010s jerseys - melange effects (streetwear look) combined with striking applications.
What do you think of our selection? Do you agree with the ranking of the 10 kits? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Good or Bad? Rexona Armpit Sponsorship on 2026 World Cup Referee Shirts
Update - Tuesday, June 23, 2026: Following our publication, Rexona contacted us to provide additional context on the activation.
According to Ben Curtis, Global Brand Vice President for Rexona at Unilever, the sponsorship is intended to highlight fourth officials, who "may not always be the focus of attention but are at the centre of some of football's most intense and anticipated moments," as part of Rexona's "It Won't Let You Down" campaign during the FIFA World Cup 2026. "They need to remain cool and calm under pressure - That's exactly why this partnership is such a natural fit for Rexona."
The 2026 World Cup referee shirts feature one of the most amusing and strategic sponsorship placements seen in football. Deodorant brand Rexona has their logo positioned directly under the armpits of the match officials' jerseys, creating a highly contextual advertising opportunity.
The Rexona logo remains largely hidden during regular play but becomes clearly visible whenever a referee raises their arms to signal a free kick, award a penalty, or issue a card. This placement perfectly matches the deodorant product being advertised, resulting in a memorable piece of marketing on the sport's biggest stage.
While this specific placement has caught the attention of fans during the 2026 tournament, it is not entirely unprecedented. A similar concept was previously executed in Brazil, where Avanço deodorant sponsored the armpits of Corinthians. However, Rexona's execution at a World Cup brings the clever concept to a massive global audience.
