Atlanta United Only MLS Team to Receive a Third Kit in 2021
A while back it was first reported that third kits would return to MLS for the 2021 season.
While many assumed that this would include more teams besides Atlanta, whose third kit details we leaked earlier this year, this is not the case. According to The Athletic's Matt Pentz, Atlanta United are the only team in the league to meet the threshold set by Adidas.
The threshold is around 100,000, as suggested by Portland Timbers owner Merritt Paulson in a tweet last month. A MLS spokesperson declined to comment to The Athletic, while a source "familiar with the situation" is quoted stating that the figure was "in the ballpark."
As we approach MLS kit release season - more 2021 jerseys are set to be released this week already - today's news will certainly come as a disappointment to fans of the league.

Exclusive: Manchester United 26-27 Third Kit Pays Homage to Salford Lads Club
The Manchester United 2026-2027 third kit is is a homage to the local Salford area, specifically drawing inspiration from the iconic Salford Lads Club.
The kit is inspired by the two Lancashire roses prominently featured on the club's entrance signage, a visual made famous by its inclusion in The Smiths' 1986 album, The Queen is Dead. It incorporates hand-drawn roses and features a unique back neck sign-off, celebrating both the local fan base and the youth community deeply associated with the historic Salford landmark.
