Manchester United Makes Error: Premier League Clubs Shall Wear League Badges on Both Sleeves if Without Sponsor

  • Dual Premier League Badges Observed: During the opening matches of the 26-27 Premier League campaign, several teams like Chelsea, Sunderland, and Crystal Palace were seen sporting the official league badge on both their right and left sleeves.
  • Mandatory Double Badge Regulation: The practice of wearing two league badges is a direct enforcement of Premier League Rule M.15, which dictates that if a club lacks a commercial left-sleeve sponsor, the official league badge must be applied to that sleeve as well as the right.
  • Manchester United's Regulatory Breach: Manchester United was observed to be in breach of Premier League regulations by not wearing any logo on their left sleeve, failing to apply the mandated league badge despite the absence of a sponsor.

Many of our readers noticed an unusual sight during the opening matches of the 26-27 Premier League campaign: several teams took the pitch sporting Premier League sleeve badges on both arms. Clubs such as Chelsea, Sunderland, and Crystal Palace all featured the league's iconic lion crest on both their right and left sleeves, leaving many supporters wondering about the sudden shift in badge placement. Huge thanks to Classic Football Shirts for the images.

Premier League Sleeve Regulation Explained

The double-badge look is not an accidental kit error or a stylistic design choice, but rather a direct enforcement of official Premier League kit regulations (Rule M.15). Under league rules, every club must carry the official Premier League badge on the right sleeve of their home and alternative shirts, incorporating the "No Room For Racism" campaign element. While the left sleeve is traditionally reserved for a commercial club sleeve sponsor, the regulations explicitly state that if a team does not have an active left-sleeve sponsor, the official league sleeve badge must be applied to that sleeve as well.

Oddly, in a breach of the rules, Manchester United did not wear any logo on the left sleeve. A breach of the official Premier League regulations. It will be interesting to see if Manchester United will have to add the sleeve badge on the left sleeve for the next game.

With the league-wide ban on front-of-shirt gambling sponsors taking full effect for the 26-27 season, commercial teams across the top flight have been navigating a reshuffled sponsorship market, causing several clubs to start the year with dual Premier League sleeve patches while negotiations for new deals continue.

The upcoming Adidas Bayern München 26-27 Oktoberfest jersey has been spotted hanging on retail racks ahead of its official launch in September.

The energetic design is complemented by off-white Three Stripes on the shoulders, the classic Adidas Trefoil logo, an ornate heritage Bayern Munich crest, and cream sponsor detailing.

Bukayo Saka and Yan Diomande Debut Whiteout New Balance Furon V9 Boots

Arsenal talisman Bukayo Saka and Real Madrid signing Yan Diomande have both taken to the pitch wearing all-white New Balance Furon V9 boots at the start of the 26-27 campaign. Thanks to @volkyfootballboots.v2 for spotting.

As two of the primary headline athletes for New Balance's flagship speed silo, their synchronized switch away from standard on-pitch colorways to a whiteout look points toward an upcoming limited-edition pack or special release from the American brand in the near future.

It’s normal that brands hide their new flagship-shoes with a whiteout colorway until their release takes place officially, so competitors can’t already get an early glimpse into their newest design.
