Manchester United Announce TeamViewer Kit Sponsorship Deal - No More Chevrolet
Manchester United have announced TeamViewer as their new main sponsor to replace Chevrolet from the start of the 21-22 season.
Germany-based TeamViewer is software company that is best known for its remote access and meeting tools.
TeamViewer Becomes New Manchester United Kit Sponsor
The logo of TeamViewer will appear on the front of the United jerseys in the 2021-22 season - and everything indicates that it will do so from the start of the 2021-22 season, and not just from 1 January 2022 as was suggested earlier.
While no financial details were announced, the deal bring in approximately £235 million over five years, roughly equaling the £47million-a-year deal Barcelona agreed with Rakuten in 2016.
And although the company's logo is blue, it will be recolored to white to better fit the United kit. It remains to be seen which variant of the logo will appear on the shirt - there are three possibilities: just the icon, icon above wordmark, or just the wordmark. The promotional material suggests that it will be the second option.
Richard Arnold, Managing Director, Manchester United, said: “We are tremendously proud to be establishing this partnership with one of the most exciting and dynamic global software companies. The ability to connect and collaborate has never been more important to the world and our community of 1.1billion fans and followers. We are looking forward to working with TeamViewer to bring to life our vision for a partnership built on smarter ways of connecting people and businesses.”
Oliver Steil, TeamViewer Chief Executive Officer, said: “We are very excited about this partnership, as it will significantly expand our brand positioning and it will help us to market our comprehensive solutions portfolio to all customer segments globally. With Manchester United and TeamViewer, two global winning teams join forces: Together as Team United we can bring the fan experience in the legendary Theatre of Dreams to a new level. We are extremely proud Manchester United picked us as partner in their ongoing technology journey.”
According to reports, the club will next try to find a new training sponsor as well as a new car partner to replace AON and Chevrolet, respectively.
