Inter Miami Sign First Main Shirt Sponsor Deal

For the first time in their young history, MLS club Inter Miami CF have a shirt sponsor. XBTO, a global cryptofinance firm, become the first-ever Primary Jersey Sponsor for South Florida’s Major League Soccer (MLS) Club.

Crypto firm XBTO relocated its headquarters to Miami in April. Sponsorship categories connected to blockchain have been made available for teams or MLS to sell at the MLS Board of Governors meeting on August 25.

Inter Miami CF signed a multi-year partnership deal with XBTO, which become the new shirt sponsor of Inter Miami. It marks the first cryptofinance partnership deal in the league.

Sport Business Journal (SBJ) reported that the annual value of the deal stands between $4 million and $5 million. Inter Miami said that the new shirt sponsorship is "among the biggest deals in MLS to date".

“There is not one step, one second that our primary jersey sponsor is not part of the heartbeat of Inter Miami. So as we looked at who we would partner with, I can say that we picked the perfect partner,” said Inter Miami CF CEO and Managing Owner, Jorge Mas.

A few weeks before Inter Miami's MLS debut in February 2020 and before the coronavirus health crisis, there were rumors of a sponsorship contract with Qatar Airways.

Inter Miami's deal means that the only MLS team without a main sponsor currently is Colorado Rapids.
