A very impressive video did the rounds on social media this weekend, showing a potential new way to achive photorealistic player faces in game like FIFA and PES.

Created and shared by VFX artist Chris Umé, the video shows close-up sequences where the faces of players like Messi and Ronaldo are replaced using a deep fake model.

The results speak for themselves, and considering the massive advances that are being made in the field, it's not impossible to imagine something like this making its way into an actual game in the mid to long term future.
