Jako Become Stuttgart's Second Investor - Kit Deal Renewed Until 2029

Update - March 14, 2022: As we speculated before, Stuttgart's current 2023 kit deal with Jako was renewed last week. The German brand will remain with the Schwaben for at least another seven seasons after this one.

As was reported two months ago, Jako are also becoming investors at VfB Stuttgart.

Original article: It was reported today by various news outlets that Jako are going to become investors at VfB Stuttgart, who they currently supply with kits and other training and technical gear.

Jako to Become an Investor at VfB Stuttgart

German sportswear brand Jako, who, like Stuttgart, are from Baden Würtemberg, are apparently set to become shareholders at VfB Stuttgart. They are looking to go beyond being kit suppliers and purchase a one percent share from the club. This equates to about 4 million Euros for VfB Stuttgart.

VfB Stuttgart are quite happy to be with Jako, stating they would rather be a small brand's number one partner than be unimportant at a larger brand. Stuttgart are keen on partnering with local businesses.

Daimler AG, who own Mercedes Benz, are the main investors at the club. However, according to Bild, Stuttgart desperately need more money due to increasing debt and have been on the look-out for new investors for some time now.

What Does This Mean for the Jako Deal?

Jako's current contract with Stuttgart started in 2019 and runs until 2023, meaning the two would part ways after the end of next season. However, with the mentioned reports, it is likely that there will be a contract renewal within the next one and a half years.

Perhaps Stuttgart and Jako will agree upon a new, lengthier contract in the near future. The fact that Stuttgart may well be relegated to the 2. Bundesliga soon could also be a factor in the negotiations.

Jako's biggest team at the moment are Bayer Leverkusen, however they will be departing from the brand at the end of this season. In terms of international sponsor deals, Jako are quite limited, with Heerenveen and St. Gallen being two of their biggest partners outside of Germany.

Adidas Teases Predator 1994 to 2026 World Cup Connection

Adidas has officially teased a connection between the original 1994 Predator boot and the upcoming 2026 World Cup. In a recent social media update, the brand highlighted the legacy of the iconic Predator silo, which was initially launched for the 1994 tournament hosted in the USA.

With the 2026 World Cup set to be co-hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada, Adidas is celebrating this 32-year journey as a full-circle moment for the boot. The brand noted that the Predator was made for the 1994 World Cup, and the tournament made the boot a legend. By stating that the road to glory continues, Adidas strongly suggests the upcoming release of special edition boots or a dedicated 2026 World Cup Predator model that pays homage to the 1994 original.

The teaser was accompanied by images showcasing the evolution of the Predator boot from its debut to its modern iteration. This announcement builds on recent Predator re-releases and limited editions, generating anticipation for what Adidas has planned for the 2026 tournament.
