Adidas and Flamengo Charge Extra for Sponsor Logos on Kits

Fans wanting to buy Flamengo’s 2022 home kit will have to pay extra if they want sponsor logos included.

Flamengo Sell Sponsorless Kit As Standard

Adidas launched the Flamengo 2022 home kit a few days ago. Official photos showed both a sponsorless version and a shirt with several sponsors on the chest, shoulders, sleeves and back. It is now apparent that anybody who wants their shirt to have the sponsor logos will have to pay for them.

This is quite unusual as club jerseys usually come with sponsors included at no extra cost. The Adidas website shows an additional cost of R$19.90 each (about €3.42) for the BRB chest sponsor and the Mercato Livro logo. The shirt the players will wear contains some additional sponsors that are not currently available to purchase on the Adidas website.

There are also two Copa Libertadores badges available at R$49.90 each(about €8.58): one representing Flamengo’s the two Libertadores titles that the club have won, the other being the standard badge worn by all teams in the competition. It is common practice for clubs to charge extra for these types of league or cup badges.

Many fans will be happy about the prospect of buying a sponsorless, more traditional-looking version of the jersey, as overcrowding with logos often takes away from the beauty of a shirt, but should they have to pay more for something that usually comes at no extra cost?
