Hamburg to Lose Orthomol Shirt Sponsor - If They Get Promoted

Hamburger SV could lose their current main sponsor, Orthomol, according to reports in Germany.

The deal with Orthomol, which was closed in 2020, will expire at the end of the current season. As reported by Bild, the deal is worth around €2 million per season for the second division club. In case you forgot, Orthomol replaced long-term sponsor Emirates after 14 years with HSV.

According to the report, a renewal with Orthomol is up in the air, especially due to the uncertain sporting future of the club. Hamburg currently sit in fifth place in Bundesliga 2, just three points off second-placed St. Pauli.

It's estimated that Hamburg could bring in around €6 to 7 million per season if they were to get promoted, which would be too much for Orthomol. Reportedly, Orthomol had already made it clear when he joined that they would only be available as a shirt sponsor in Bundesliga 2.

In the case that Hamburg remain in the second division, there is still a slim chance for a renewal with Orthomol.

In other club news, there recently was a rumors about Castore being interested in replacing Adidas as kit supplier.
