Most Insane Kit Story of The Year: Sivasspor Say That Kits Were Lost at Cluj Airport, But Did They Really?

  • Sivasspor Kits Lost: Sivasspor claimed their kits were lost at Cluj Airport, forcing them to wear makeshift Nike jerseys in their Europa Conference League match.
  • Suspicious Inconsistencies: The goalkeeper jersey and socks were correct, and a photo was posted of the back of their regular kits (but was revealed to be taken earlier), making the story of lost kits questionable.
  • Makeshift Logo: The Sivasspor logo on the makeshift Nike jerseys was quickly printed, and one even came off a player's kit during the match.

Turkish club Sivasspor were forced to wear makeshift kits in the UEFA Europa Conference League away match against CFR Cluj on Thursday evening.

Strange... the keeper jersey and player socks were the correct ones...

Sivasspor's usual kits are made by Turkish fashion brand Tony Montana, who do not sell jerseys at all, so it was impossible to buy Tony Montana-branded football kits in Romania.

Sivasspor Kits Lost at Cluj Airport, Team Play With Nike Teamwear Kits

As explained by Sivasspor in a statement shortly ahead of kick-off, their kits were lost at Cluj Airport and could "not be found despite all searches".

Therefore, Sivasspor were forced to come up with new kits. They entered the field wearing standard white Nike teamwear jerseys but with the club logo added on the left chest.

Did Sivasspor come up with a white lie?

What is extremely strange is that Sivasspor wore the correct Tony Montana keeper kit and the correct shorts. The first possibilty is that only parts of their kits were lost. The second is that the club simply forgot to take with their white third jersey and came up with a white lie.

Sivasspor also posted a picture of a locker room ahead of the match that showed the back of their regular kits and not those worn in the match. It was not taken in Cluj but in Turkey some time ago. Corrected - this is no indicator that the shirts were not lost at the airport.

The makeshift logo was quickly printed on the left chest - it came off of one player's kit.

It remains to be seen if the Tony Montana Sivasspor jerseys that were lost at the airport will turn up, or if the club even lost any jerseys at all.
