Adidas to Release Early 1900s-Inspired Retro Boca Juniors & River Plate Kits

Adidas are set to launch retro football shirts for Argentinian giants Boca Juniors and River Plate, taking inspiration from the kits of the early 1900s.

We've seen lots of retro-inspired launches over the past few years, with brands and clubs looking back to the designs of the 1980s and 1990s. For the upcoming Boca Juniors and River Plate launch, Adidas will release football shirts that are inspired by kits worn by the clubs in the early 20th century.

It's important to note that these shirts are not the respective 2023-24 home shirts.

Adidas Boca Juniors Retro Shirt

The Boca Juniors 2023 retro shirt will be similar to the one listed on Football Kit Archive as the 1919 home kit.

The Boca Juniors jersey features a clean design with a collar with laces that's typical of its era.

Adidas River Plate Retro Shirt

The River Plate jersey, meanwhile, will be inspired by the design of the 1902-09 home shirt.

In terms of design, the River Plate shirt looks more like a dress shirt, with buttons going down all the way in the center.
