Shirt sponsorship is a vital source of income for clubs. Along with qualification for and progress in various tournaments, it can affect their level of activity in the transfer market and therefore have a knock-on effect on the team's performances on the pitch. For kit fans however, how the sponsor logo looks on the jersey is equally important. Read on to find out when each Premier League club's deal expires, and who may be in the running to take over.
Arsenal - Fly Emirates - 2024
Fly Emirates have appeared on Arsenal's shirts since 2006 and has been extended several times. The current contract is up in 2024, so there's at least one more season left in this one. The club earn £40 million a season from the airline, but will be looking for improved terms for their next deal.
Aston Villa - Cazoo - 2023
Villa will definitely have a new sponsor for the 23-24 season. Cazoo will not be renewing this deal, or any of the others they started around Europe last summer, as their own financial difficulties mean they have had to cancel these commercial partnerships. Aston Villa have reportedly an agreement in place with betting firm BK8 for next season but fans want the club to reconsider.
Bournemouth - Dafabet - 2024
Bournemouth's deal with Dafabet will expire at the end of the next campaign so there will likely be no change until then.
Brentford - Hollywoodbets - 2023
The Bees are heading itno the final months of their current deal and should be able to negotiate something more lucrative from a new sponsor this summer thanks to their success in the Premier League since they gained promotion.
Brighton - American Express - 2031
American Express are in this one for the long haul. The company has its headquarters in Brighton and also bought the naming rights to their stadium in 2019. They will pay Brighton £100 million pounds in total over the duration of the deal.
Chelsea - Three - 2023
There was talk of this deal ending even sooner than planned last season amidst the sanctions on Chelsea's then owner, Roman Abramovich. That didn't happen in the end, but the current campaign looks sure to be the last one Chelsea fans will have to endure with the numeric logo on their kits.
Crystal Palace - Cinch - 2024 (at least)
Cinch came on board with Palace last season in what was announced as a multi-year deal, so there has to be at least one more season to go before it expires, possibly more.
Everton - Stake - 2024 (at least)
Like Palace, Everton also signed a "multi-year" deal with betting company Stake last summer, so 2024 is the earliest possible expiry date.
Fulham - W88 - 2023
Betting site W88 previously had one year partnerships with Wolves and Aston Villa, and they added Fulham to that list in 2022. The contract is up this summer so Fulham will be in the market for new sponsor.
Leeds - SBOTOP - 2024?
Another mysterious multi-year deal, but the Athletic expect this one to continue for another season. The value of that additional year will depend on whether or not Leeds are still a Premier League club by then.
Leicester - FBS - 2024
23-24 will be Leicester's third season with FBS on their shirts. The club earn £12 million a season from the trading firm.
Liverpool - Standard Chartered - 2027
Liverpool are Premier League champions when it comes to long running sponsorship deals. The last extension with British bank Standard Chartered means the partnership will continue until summer 2027, bringing in around £50 million per season. That means Liverpool will have had just two shirt sponsors over a 35 year stretch, Standard Chartered and Carlsberg.
Manchester City - Etihad Airways - ?
This £67 million a season deal was due to end in 2021 but has continued on the same terms. City are apparently searching for a replacement, but they also have the option to extend with Etihad, who it seems will stay on as sponsor for as long as it takes. The chairman of Etihad Airways, Mohamed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, is also a non-executive director at Manchester City.
Manchester United - TeamViewer - 2023
This contract was supposed to run until 2026 but United bought back the rights, essentially bringing the deal to a close this summer so they can find a new sponsor. However, if they can't agree terms that suit them with another company, there is an option of a one year extension with TeamViewer.
Newcastle United - Fun88 - 2023
Another case of club cutting the deal short in order to find a more lucrative offer. Newcastle's new standing as the world's richest club brings with it higher expectations, both in footballing success and commercial partnerships. A Saudi sponsor seems the most likely outcome for next season.
Nottingham Forest - None
Forest were holding out for an offer of at least £8 million a season last summer and refused to budge on their valuation. Nobody obliged, so they started the season with plain shirts before filling the void with the logo of charity association UNHCR. Staying in the Premier League should boost their chances of finding a suitor that meets their demands ahead of next season.
Southampton - Sportsbet - 2024
Sportsbet have paid Southampton £7.5 million a season since 2021, with next season being the final year of the partnership. Relegation to the Championship at the end of this campaign would see that fee reduced.
Tottenham - AIA - 2027
Four more years to go in this deal that's been in place since 2013. The value rose to £40 million a season after the most recent renewal in 2019.
West Ham - Betway - 2025
One of the longest betting shirt sponsorships in the Premier League. West Ham's deal with Betway is set to reach the 10 year mark at the end of the 24-25 season.
Wolves - Astropay - 2023
Astropay signed a one year deal with Wolves in summer 2022, so we could see a new logo on their shirts next year if the offer on an extension isn't forthcoming.
