Portsmouth FC Retro Kits Rereleased - to Celebrate 125th Anniversary
League One outfit Portsmouth FC are preparing to celebrate their 125th anniversary on April 5 with several special stuff, including rereleasing the club's retro kits. The Pompey collaborated with its previous kit sponsor Admiral and retro jersey specialist Score Draw to rerelease their 1978-80, 1987/88, and 1991-93 kits.
Portsmouth x Admiral x Score Draw Retro Kits Collection
The retro collection pays homage to Pompey's three retro shirts which have been fans' favorites throughout the years. All three retro kits were by Score Draw but two of them (1978-80 and 1987/88 kits) are under Admiral's license as Portsmouth's kit sponsors during those years.
Portsmouth 1978-80 Retro Kit
Portsmouth 1978 Retro Kit is full remake of their previous kit that year which is mainly in blue with the classic club's crest on the left and Admiral's logo on the right. That kit marks one of the special moments for Pompey's die-hard fans as it was the jersey that witness their promotion from the fourth division.
Portsmouth 1987/88 Retro Kit
Portsmouth 1987/88 kit offers more color combinations aside from the blue color base as it adds a red and white vertical pinstripe design pattern. The retro kit also includes South Coast Fiat shirt sponsor plus Pompey's 80s anchor crest on the left with Admiral's logo on the right side.
Portsmouth 1991-93 Retro Kit
The Portsmouth 1991-93 retro jersey is mainly in blue with a similar pattern all around the kit with an additional white color combination for the Goodmans sponsor logo and collar. The kit didn't include any manufacturer logo while the club's crest is being placed on the left side. Portsmouth's 1991-93 jersey will bring that special memory as it was the shirt the club wore during their FA Cup semi-final clash against Liverpool which ended in the Reds' victory after a shootout in the replay game.
Portsmouth's Retro Kits can be purchased at the club's official website for £45.00 each but the 1987/88 kit is only available for pre-order for now as it will be officially unveiled on 17th April.
