Arsenal vs Manchester United Could Be a Nightmare for Color-Blind Viewers Today
Manchester United are set to wear their military green shirts when they face off against Arsenal on Sunday. While this may seem like no problem for viewers, it could lead to problems for color-blind people, as spotted by experts @museumofjerseys.
Arsenal vs Manchester United - Problem For Color-Blind People?
One in twelve men and one in two hundred women suffer from color blindness, according to the National Eye Institute. For these individuals, it could be tough to distinguish between the green shirts of United and the red and white of Arsenal.
The difference in shorts and socks could help distinguish the teams, but it may still be tricky for those with protanopia.
Indeed, a black version of Manchester United's 23-24 third kit would perfectly distinguishable from Arsenal's red and white home kit. We created a concept back when the Manchester United 23-24 third kit was launched, as part of a concept series.

United's white 23-24 third strip is intended to be worn only with white or red shorts and socks, which would cause an overall clash. Last season, United wore their white change kit at the Emirates, but this time, their green shirt could cause difficulties.
Premier League have color-blind people not in mind, in contrast to the English Football League
In 2020-21, the Premier League faced a lot of criticism when they allowed red-green match-ups in the games between Liverpool and Arsenal and Manchester United. The EFL Handbook mentions color blindness as a consideration, but the Premier League one does not. Given the number of people affected by color blindness, it would be prudent for the league to take this into account.
