Update: Like 50 years ago, Atlético wore red/blue/red against Celtic. According to reports, the change was also due to a clash with Celtic's white and green kit. Update: Atletico Madrid have revealed images of the special shirt to be worn vs Celtic. It is the same as the special kit from the 2021-22 season, just with a different sponsor and without the 75th-anniversary logo. By wearing red, Atlético pay homage to the red kit worn in the famous battle away against Celtic 50 years ago.

Atlético are set to don a special retro jersey when they face Celtic, reminiscent of the one worn in the 1974 European Cup semi-final.

In that historic match, known as 'The Battle of Glasgow,' Atleti battled against Celtic with only eight players remaining on the pitch at full-time, managing a 0-0 draw.
