Nike Has Messed Up With Its Collars
- Modernized Polo Collar: Nike's modernized polo collar on several national team kits, including Brazil and England, is ill-fitting and uncomfortable for players, requiring constant adjustment and appearing too loose.
- Offset V-Collar: The offset v-collar, intended to show a reverse swoosh, disrupts the symmetry of kits, particularly on the tricolor design of the France kit.
- Square Collar: The revolutionary square collar of the Nigeria 2024 home kit looks unusual, and the team did not wear it in their first match, raising questions about its functionality.
The Nike 2024 national team kits feature some extraordinary collars. They are unique, but they are apparently not working perfectly.
Modernized Nike Polo Collar Fits Badly
Several of Nike's biggest teams, including Brazil and England, received the same modernized Polo collar for their kits.
The match between England and Brazil showed that the collar does not work as intended. Several Brazilian and English players had to pull up the collar because they were apparently uncomfortable, making it look like a turtleneck.
Bellingham also fiddled with the collar. Also, the whole collar construction seems far too loose, causing the collar to swing around.
Offset Nike V-Collar - Intended to Show Reverse Swoosh, But Destroys Symmetry of Kits
Another unique collar is a variant of the classic v-collar, seen on kits like the France 2024 home shirt and the Netherlands 2024 away kit.
Rumors say that the offset v-collar intends to show a reverse swoosh, even though this would not be allowed officially.
The collar, however, does not work in reality, especially on the tricolor version of the France kit. As South American kit experts La Casaca rightly noted, it makes everything look offset.
Square Collar - Nigeria Wears Old Kit in First Match After Launch
The most revolutionary collar is the boxed/square collar of the Nigeria 2024 home kit. Images of players wearing the kit look a bit like photoshopped ones, even though they, of course, are not.
However, Nigeria did not wear the new kit in its first match after its launch. It remains to be seen if it works as smoothly as a round collar when we see the new Nigeria kit on the pitch at any time.

Meanwhile, the half-and-half round collar Nike uses for kits like the USA 2024 home kit is excellent in terms of design and functionality
