Bayern Munich's 125th Anniversary Kit Photoshoot Sparks Rivalry Tension with 1860 Munich
- Controversy: Bayern Munich's photoshoot at Grünwalder Stadion for their 125th-anniversary kit angered city rivals 1860 Munich.
- Rivalry Tension: 1860 Munich ultras displayed a banner with profanities directed at Bayern, expressing their anger at seeing Bayern players at their stadium.
- Historical Connection: Bayern's decision to use Grünwalder Stadion was intentional to celebrate their historical connection to the stadium, as the anniversary kit pays homage to the club's three significant venues.
Bayern Munich's recently unveiled 125th-anniversary kit has generated significant buzz among supporters - but not all of it positive. While Bayern fans have enthusiastically embraced the special edition jersey, the promotional photoshoot has sparked outrage from city rivals 1860 Munich.
The Controversy: Bayern's Photoshoot Location Angers City Rivalry
At home in the soulless Pampa, but into Giesing for the photo shoot. Red wh* out of our curve!
The controversy centers around Bayern's decision to conduct part of its promotional photoshoot at Grünwalder Stadion. During Friday's 3. Liga match between 1860 Munich and Arminia Bielefeld, 1860 ultras displayed a banner with profanities directed at Bayern, expressing their anger at seeing Manuel Neuer, Thomas Müller, and Lena Oberdorf modeling in their stands.
Bayern's choice of location was intentional, as the club aimed to celebrate its historical connection to the stadium where the club once played its home matches. According to the club's announcement, the anniversary kit design pays homage to "the three great venues of the club" - Grünwalder Stadion, Olympiastadion, and Allianz Arena.
However, Bayern's decision to make the photoshoot in the west stand, the stand of the 1860 Munich fans, could have been reconsidered. Bayern's fans are in the north stand when the second team plays at the stadium. Adidas "should" have made the photoshoot there, in our opinion.
