Hamburg Fans Protest Against Crest on Away Kit
- Fan Protest: Hamburg SV Ultras protested the new away kit during a friendly match against Copenhagen due to the crest design.
- Crest Controversy: The fans are upset because the crest on the new away kit is a black-and-white diamond without the traditional blue background, which they believe violates the club's statutes.
- Statute Exception: While fans argue the crest violates club statutes, the club likely justifies the design using an 'exception clause' that allows deviations in special cases.
The newly released Hamburg SV 2025-2026 away kit has already sparked controversy, with the club's Ultras staging a protest against the new jersey during a pre-season friendly against Copenhagen. The issue is not with the overall design, but specifically with the application of the club crest, which they claim violates the club's own statutes. Thanks to Mopo.

Hamburg Fans Protest Against Crest on Away Kit
During the friendly match, the HSV Ultras held up a banner with a clear message: "Wer die Satzung nicht ehrt, ist das Wappen nicht wert" (He who does not honor the statutes is not worthy of the crest). A second part of the banner read, "‘Raute pur‘ vom Trikot verbannen" (Banish 'Raute pur' from the jersey).
"Raute pur" (pure diamond) is the club's marketing term for the crest used on the new away kit.
The fans' anger stems from the design of the crest on the new away shirt. The kit features a black-and-white version of the iconic HSV diamond logo placed centrally, but it is missing its traditional blue background.
The Ultras argue that this design contravenes § 4 of the club's official statutes, which reportedly states that the club's crest must show the black and white diamond on a blue background.
The Club's Likely Justification: The "Exception Clause"
While the fans' point about the statutes is clear, the club likely has a justification. The statutes also contain an "exception clause" (§ 4 Abs. 3) that allows the board to approve deviations from the standard crest design in special cases.
Providing a different perspective, new signing Nicolai Remberg told Mopo that he "thought it was really cool to wear and it looks really awesome on the pitch on the guys."
What do you think of this situation? Do you agree with the HSV Ultras that the crest must follow the statutes, or do you like the 'Raute pur' design? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
