Adidas to Return as South Africa Kit Maker - No More Le Coq Sportif

  • Adidas Partnership: Adidas has secured a three-year partnership with the South African Football Association (SAFA), becoming the official kit sponsor starting January 1, 2026.
  • End of Le Coq Sportif: The Adidas partnership replaces Le Coq Sportif as the official kit provider for South Africa.
  • Historic Reunion: Adidas previously supplied kits for South Africa from 1999 to 2011, including the 2010 FIFA World Cup hosted in South Africa.

Update: Immediately after securing qualification for the 2026 World Cup, the South African Football Association (SAFA) officially announced a three-year partnership with Adidas, replacing Le Coq Sportif.

Adidas Becomes South Africa Kit Maker

Adidas will return as the official kit sponsor for South Africa starting from January 1, 2026. They will provide kits for both Bafana Bafana and Banyana Banyana starting from the 2026 World Cup.

Adidas was up against other major brands like Nike, Puma, Macron, and Kappa in the bidding process but is said to have "impressed with their presentations."

This partnership is more than a sponsorship – it’s a return to shared values of pride, resilience, and performance. adidas has long been part of our football story, and together we’ll inspire South Africans everywhere to believe that they’ve got what it takes. This return also marks the strengthening of our standing among the global football nations community as we compete at FIFA and CAF tournaments regularly and being supported by a brand that invests in innovation, performance and style to meet the needs of a modern sports organisation like us,” said Lydia Monyepao, the SAFA Chief Executive Officer.

A Historic Reunion

A return to Adidas would mark a historic reunion for South African football. The Three Stripes were previously the nation's kit supplier from 1999 until 2011, a period fondly remembered by fans.

This previous partnership culminated in the 2010 FIFA World Cup, which was hosted on home soil. The Adidas kits from that era are considered classics by many supporters.
