Some days ago, RB Leipzig released an innovative glow-in-the-dark kit. And while they will also wear it in their Bundesliga top match vs Dortmund on 21 February, they will certainly do so in a modified version.
RB Leipzig Glow-in-the-Dark Kit Banned by Bundesliga Rules - Puma to Create Modified Version?
The Puma RB Leipzig 2025-26 Glow in the Dark football shirt is prohibited by official Bundesliga (8.4) and FIFA regulations regarding reflective materials on match kits. The original design featured luminescent elements on player names, numbers, and logos, which violates rules stating that no part of the kit can change appearance due to external factors like light.
Despite the ban on the full glow-in-the-dark concept, RB Leipzig will still wear the kit, certainly in an approved modified form. The club will remove all glow-in-the-dark elements from the names, numbers, and logos to comply with league regulations.
8.4: No part of the playing kit may consist of reflective material or change its color or appearance due to external influences (air pressure, light, water, etc.). This also applies to the material used for numbers, player names, sponsors, or charity logos.
This is similar to last season's jingle kit, which was made from velvet but altered for the on-pitch debut to feature Puma's regular tech.
