- Performance and Durability: The socks offer excellent grip and a precise fit with strategically placed grip pads, but durability, particularly in the toe area, is a concern.
Grip socks have become an absolute essential piece of equipment for footballers at all levels, designed to prevent blisters and improve responsiveness. We recently put the Senda Gravity Pro Crew grip socks to the test on the pitch to see how they stack up in a highly competitive market.
The Gravity socks have been developed by Glenn Van Geldorp, a former Dutch professional football player in Thailand, who created the socks to solve issues with in-boot slipping and blisters. Senda, a brand traditionally known for its futsal shoes, acquired the company in late 2020 to enter the rapidly growing performance grip sock market and expand its distribution channels both in the US and internationally.
As a US brand with Argentinian roots, the Senda socks have the most visibility in Argentina and the USA. For example, Giuliano Simeone and Alexis Mac Allister wore them for Argentina, and a bunch of players of Inter Miami are rocking them.
Senda Gravity Pro Crew Grip Socks Review
One of the biggest complaints with some grip socks is the one-size-fits-all approach, which makes them very tight for a huge foot. Senda avoids this issue by offering the Gravity Pro in four distinct size options, ranging from Small to X-Large. This welcome variety ensures a more precise and anatomical fit. Because they are dedicated performance socks, they naturally fit relatively tight around the foot, providing excellent compression and support without feeling overly restrictive during play.
When taking them out onto the pitch, the standout feature becomes instantly noticeable. The grip pads placed under the foot are positioned strategically to give players grip exactly where they need it the most. The relatively thick pads provide an exceptional amount of traction against the insole of your football boots, effectively locking your foot in place and completely eliminating any internal slipping during sharp cuts and sprints.
In terms of fit, the Senda socks are very similar to Nike Performance sport socks.
However, there is one important thing buyers need to be aware of, which is a general problem with grip-performance socks. Durability vs the relatively high price. For the Senda socks, the problems for us and others lie in the toe area. Cut your nails to avoid getting holes in them, but you are still likely to get the first problems there.
The Senda Gravity Pro Crew Grip Socks retail at $24.99 USD, available via the brand's website and Amazon.
Disclaimer: We were sent two pairs of the Gravity Pro Crew socks by Senda free of charge for the purpose of this review.
