Adidas Rips Off Tigres Fans With New Anniversary Kit

  • Adidas Overcharging Fans: Adidas is facing criticism for charging Mexican and US football fans significantly higher prices for the new Club América 110th anniversary long-sleeve jersey compared to European customers.
  • Significant Price Discrepancy: The Club América anniversary shirt is priced at approximately $175 USD in Mexico and $170 USD in the US, while the same jersey sells for about £90 (around $110 USD) on the UK Adidas store, resulting in a difference of roughly $55 USD for domestic fans.
  • Inconsistent Pricing Strategy: This price disparity is notable because other Adidas anniversary kits were released at standard replica prices, indicating that the pricing for the Club América kit in the US and Mexico is unusually high.

Adidas has come under fire from Mexican football fans over significant price differences for the newly released Club América 26-27 110th anniversary long-sleeve jersey. The issue was brought to light by Tigres kit experts TigresJerse, revealing that supporters purchasing the commemorative kit locally in Mexico and the United States are being charged considerably more than European customers.

Huge Price Gap Between Mexico/USA, and Europe

On the official Adidas Mexico online store, the Club América long-sleeve anniversary shirt is priced at 3,199 MXN (roughly $175 USD / £135 GBP). Meanwhile, the US Adidas store lists the jersey for $170 USD (around 3,125 MXN). However, on the UK Adidas store, the exact same long-sleeve shirt is listed at just £90, which converts to approximately 2,190 MXN. That leaves domestic fans in Mexico paying roughly 1,000 MXN ($55 USD) more than someone buying the shirt overseas in the UK.

Other Adidas anniversary kits were released at regular replica prices, so it is the US/Mexican pricing that is unreasonable. There is no differentiation between authentic and replica for Adidas' current anniversary kits.
