No More Adidas: Gianluigi Donnarumma to Join Mizuno?
- Donnarumma's Potential Brand Switch: Italy and Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was spotted training in Mizuno boots, strongly hinting at the end of his long-term partnership with Adidas.
- Dual Brand Departure: Donnarumma's simultaneous switch from Adidas boots to Mizuno and Adidas gloves to Reusch confirms that his overarching contract with Adidas has likely expired.
- Major Coup for Mizuno: Securing Donnarumma would be a significant acquisition for Mizuno, reinforcing their strategy to expand their presence in top-tier European football through high-profile ambassadors.
Italy and Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma could be on the verge of a sensational brand switch. The Italian shot-stopper was spotted training during international duty wearing Mizuno boots, strongly hinting that his time with Adidas may be over.
Gianluigi Donnarumma to Join Mizuno?
Donnarumma stepped onto the training pitch sporting the Mizuno Morelia Neo 4 'Bright Gold' boots. The sighting points to a significant shift in Donnarumma's sponsorship status.
The 27-year-old has long been a key ambassador for Adidas, prominently fronting marketing campaigns and wearing the latest Adidas Predator models. However, recent signs suggest the relationship has ended.
Alongside the change in footwear, Donnarumma has also stopped using Adidas goalkeeper gloves, recently transitioning to Reusch. Dropping both Adidas boots and gloves simultaneously makes it all but certain that his overarching contract with the Three Stripes has expired, leaving him free to test and sign with new partners.
If finalized, securing Donnarumma would represent a major coup for Mizuno. The Japanese brand has been steadily rebuilding its presence in top-tier European football, having already secured high-profile ambassadors like João Félix and Sergio Ramos, and most recently, Mason Mount. Seeing one of the world's elite goalkeepers laced up in Mizuno is a huge statement of intent.
