Mbappé Does Not Wear On Boots - Whiteout Nike Mercurials Instead
- Mbappé Leaves Nike for On: Kylian Mbappé has officially ended his two-decade partnership with Nike to become the new face and equity partner of the Swiss brand On.
- Match Boots Not On: Despite his new partnership, Mbappé wore disguised whiteout Nike Mercurial Vapor 17 Elite boots during his match against Atlético, not the On cleats he used in training.
- Transition Period: Evidence like the visible Nike soleplate confirmed his boots were Nike, suggesting Mbappé is still transitioning and not yet comfortable enough to wear On football boots in a competitive match.
Following the monumental announcement that Kylian Mbappé has left Nike after two decades to become the face and equity partner of Swiss brand On, all eyes were on the Real Madrid forward's feet in the derby against Atlético.
No On: Mbappé Prefers Whiteout Nike Mercurial Boots For Match
While Mbappé wore whiteout On soccer cleats in training, Mbappé stepped out in a whiteout pair of Nike Mercurial Superfly 11 Elite soccer boots for the match. The unmistakable proof is found right on the soleplate, where the distinctive red forefoot Air Zoom airbag pod is clearly visible between the studs. In addition to the Air Zoom unit, the recognizable Flyweave Ultrea upper texture confirm beyond doubt that he remains in disguised Nike Mercurials with the Swoosh logos removed.
Mbappé apparently did not feel familiar enough with the On football boots yet for the match. It will be interesting to see how long he will continue playing in whiteout Nike Mercurials as he eases through the transition for the 26-27 campaign.
For Nike, Mbappé wearing Mercurials while not being an athlete of theirs anymore, is the best thing that could have happened.
