Umbro Announce Derby County Kit Deal

After Derby County Chief Operating Officer John Vicars announced ten days ago that the famous Double Diamond brand Umbro would be the new Derby County Shirt supplier from the 2014-15 season, the Championship club today officially confirmed the new kit deal.

While Derby County not signed a new kit deal with Umbro, the current Kappa kit contract was signed in 2012 with the company GLD Group, who is responsible for the development and marketing of Kappa and Umbro. The contract allows the club to choose between Kappa and Umbro as shirt supplier.

Umbro Derby County Kit Deal

Umbro will produce the Derby County Kits at least until 2017.

In 2014, Umbro celebrates the return to the football kit market, signing several new kit deals as well as releasing the Umbro UX-1 Boot, worn by Joe Hart. Everton, RC Lens and Hull City announced new kit deals with Umbro from the 2014-15 season.

"Umbro are a leading global sports brand and here at Derby County we are delighted to be associated with them once again," said Derby County’s President & Chief Executive Sam Rush.

"They are a brand that was synonymous with Club in the 1970s and the timing of the partnership is particularly poignant, as this season is 40 years since the Club embarked on their second Championship-winning League campaign.

"We have worked closely with Umbro to provide supporters with a new kit and exciting product range, which will be revealed in the very near future."

Derby County will play in the Championship next season after they lost the dramatic play-off against Queens Park Rangers. The new Derby County Umbro Kit Deal will start in July 2014 with the release of the Derby County 14-15 Kits.
