Now Available: Nike Mercurial Receives Anti-Clog Sole Plate
Update: The Nike Mercurial Superfly V Anti-Clog edition is finally available to buy. The RRP is $375.
Update: Nürnberg midfielder Ondrej Petrak shared a picture of his Anti-Clog Nike Mercurial Superfly V boots - so far they are still not available to buy, though.
It looks like the Nike Mercurial Superfly V and Vapor XI football boots will finally receive Anti-Clog editions with Nike's latest collection, the Radiation Flare pack. This has been confirmed by Japanese store SS Kamo, who have put up images showing the Anti-Clog edition of the Nike Mercurial Vapor 11 Radiation Flare boot. Thanks to Marko for pointing this out.
Nike Mercurial Vapor XI Anti-Clog
This image shows the Anti-Clog version of the Nike Mercurial Vapor 11 soccer cleat.
Based on the regular Nike Mercurial Vapor XI, the new Anti-Clog edition swaps the standard sole plate for the Anti-Clog one, which is the same across all silos. It features a special coating that aims to prevent mud from sticking to the sole plate and has been getting quite euphoric reviews ever since it was first released in April last year.
For whatever reason, neither the Nike Mercurial Superfly IV, Vapor X or the subsequent generations received the Anti-Clog treatment, though.
Although it is unlikely that they won't, there remains a small level of doubt in regards of whether this Anti-Clog Nike Mercurial Vapor XI boots will also be released elsewhere than Japan. Either way, it will be confirmed when the full Nike Radiation Flare collection gets available on January 30.
