Manchester City Becomes First Premier League Team to Sign Sleeve Sponsor

Manchester City today became the first Premier League team ever to sign a sleeve sponsorship deal. The agreement will see Nexen Tire's logo appear on Manchester City's jerseys in 2017-18 season.

Manchester City Signs Nexen Tire Sleeve Sponsorship Deal

Nexen Tire's logo will appear on the right sleeve of Manchester City's kits in 17-18.

Starting next season, the Premier League has allowed sponsor logos on the right sleeve, with the league patch only featured on the left arm going forward. Manchester City has now become the first club to make use of this new revenue opportunity by signing a deal with Nexen Tire, a South Korea-based tire manufacturer that was already a minor sponsor for the club before.

“The price point would be less than the front of the shirt, but the media value is incredible," the club’s Chief Commercial Officer Tom Glick said to Bloomberg. “There’s only a select number of positions on the top clubs worldwide and many of them aren’t available.”
